  • Finance Assistant

    Elissa Slotkin for Michigan is searching for a dedicated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic Finance Assistant to assist with all aspects of Michigan fundraising for the 2024 election cycle. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.

    The position may start remote and will be based in metro Detroit. This position reports to the Michigan Finance Director.

    Responsibilities

    Events

    Support all aspects of Michigan fundraising events from start to finish, including but not limited to prospective donor research, creating invitation materials, making phone calls and drafting email outreach to build events, tracking RSVPs, communicating event logistics to attendees, attending and staffing events in-person, post-event reporting to the team, and ensuring event hosts are properly thanked.

    Call Time

    The Finance Assistant will be expected to provide in-person staffing support during Michigan call time, as well as assist the Call Time Manager with prepping materials for Michigan call time days.

    Contribution processing

    Assist with retrieving mail, processing and source coding contributions, and communicating with the compliance firm to ensure contributions are processed in a timely manner.

    Database maintenance

    Regularly update NGP with outreach notes, event notes, call time notes, and other information.

    Acknowledgements

    Lead the campaign’s thank you note program, working with staff and interns to ensure that acknowledgements are printed, signed, assembled, and sent in a timely manner.

    Internship Program

    Day to date management of the finance internship program, working with the Michigan Finance Director to recruit interns for each semester.

    Qualifications

    • Self-starter with a robust work ethic who is willing to work weekends and evenings in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with a high level of attention to detail.
    • Strong writer who can clearly communicate complex ideas in written form.
    • Confident verbal communicator who can clearly communicate up and down organizational hierarchy.
    • Reliable access to a car or other transportation to regularly travel point-to-point across the state.
    • Ties to Michigan strongly preferred but not required.
    • Prior fundraising or campaign experience (as a volunteer, intern, or staff) strongly preferred.

    Hours and Compensation

    This is a full-time position and will at times require weekend and evening work, both remote and in person work, and you will be expected to travel to support the Congresswoman’s fundraising activities in Michigan.

    The salary range for this position is $4,000-$5,000 per month based on experience, and includes a competitive benefits package.

  • Finance Internship

    Elissa Slotkin for Michigan is seeking full-time, paid summer Finance Interns to help elect Representative Elissa Slotkin to the United States Senate. Interns will gain invaluable hands-on experience working closely with Team Slotkin. Finance interns will be assigned a variety of tasks to meet the department’s ambitious fundraising goals, and will report to the Michigan Finance Director.

    The Elissa Slotkin for Michigan Internship program is perfect for young people seeking an opportunity to gain real, applicable experience in a top-tier political campaign.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Perform research on new and potential donors to the campaign.
    • Uphold data integrity through database management.
    • Assist with all aspects of fundraising events, including preparing invitation materials, maintaining attendance lists, soliciting contributions by phone and email to hit fundraising goals, staffing events, and appropriate follow-up.
    • Draft memorandum and other internal materials for the Congresswoman and the Finance Team.
    • Assist with the campaign’s thank you program, cleaning data and preparing mailings to ensure supporters are thanked in a timely manner
    • Interns will have the opportunity to assist with other projects on the campaign according to their interests and at the discretion of the Michigan Finance Director.

    Qualifications

    • Extremely organized with ability to track multiple priorities at once.
    • Effective communicator who can clearly communicate progress to goal as well as strong creative writing skills
    • Self-starter with a strong work ethic who is willing to work non-traditional hours on occasion.
    • The campaign is committed to training the next generation of political leaders in Michigan. Day-to-day work will be a combination of remote and in person work in metro Detroit.
    • Campaign experience preferred, though not required.

    Compensation

    Finance Interns will be expected to work full time (40 hours) and will receive $15/hour.
